The school remodeling painting has been started and looks nice and the academic wings are all completed now. The gym bleachers has had a major improvement in cleaning the steps. The gym floor will be resurfaced by a third party contractor this year as the price was better than having the janitorial staff complete the project. The nutrition standards has all been met and approval was signed by Deb Altic.

Harold Gottke, Technology Coordinator, talked about the 1 to 1 computer project. It would solve some problems, but the cost might be too great for the results. The Dell 2100 series and the NL3 series are showing their age. The Atom processors are not powerful computers and should be replaced. He would like to have a five year rotation on all the computers instead of replacing them all at one time with the new i5 processor laptops with SSD’s instead of hard drives. Replacing about 100-150 each year would get the rotation started. He also purchased 150 or LCD screens from Wayne Trace for a great price. He is getting good rates on these computers by the purchasing power getting them with other schools, naming Paulding.

The electric bill was very high and Harold explained the changes in environmental controls to make sure it doesn’t happen again. The system shuts down at 10:00 p.m. for about seven hours per day and should help significantly reduce costs. There was a meeting with American Heat Tech and they have been diligent to get these problems solved. There is a web-based set of controls that the company can monitor everything remotely and would be notified of any problems in the system.
