Warrant Arrest Leads to Meth Lab in New Haven

MethAt approximately 7:30 pm on September 11, 2014, a New Haven Police Officer was on patrol in the 200 block of Lincoln Highway West when he observed a former New Haven resident, Todd Lee. Officers knew Mr. Lee had an active warrant out for his arrest. Mr. Lee was then seen going into a residence of a trailer park in that area and other officers were called to assist.

As officers approached the residence, they observed Mr. Lee and another individual, later identified as Aaron Kelly, in the front room with what officers believed to be narcotics being manufactured in plain view on a table. Officers also noted a strong chemical odor coming from the residence.

Upon taking Mr. Lee into custody, officers observed a large can of fuel, coffee filters and a funnel right next to where Mr. Lee and Mr. Kelly had been sitting. Officers noted the chemical smell was much stronger inside the trailer and the NHAT Fire Department was placed on stand-by due to the potential of fire hazards associated with meth manufacturing.

Once the two suspects were taken into custody, the Fort Wayne Police Department Meth Suppression Unit was contacted to process the scene.

While processing the crime scene, officers located more items used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine. Mr. Lee and Mr. Kelly were each charged with Dealing in Methamphetamine, Possession of two or more Precursors with the intent to Manufacture (both felonies), and Possession of Paraphernalia (misdemeanor).

The Allen County Drug Task Force also assisted in this investigation.
