Wayne Trace Wrestling entered last week with two duel meets scheduled. Wrestling on Tuesday night at Antwerp they picked up wins over Antwerp and Fairview. Thursday night they moved their record to 6-0 in duels with two highly contested wins over Tinora and Ayersville. After Thursday night, the Raider squad has beaten all GMC teams.
With only one day rest, the Raiders participated in the Backhaus Duels at Tinora high school on Saturday. In the duel tournament, no other school would push them, and the red, white, and blue would comfortably take are of all challengers making their record 11-0. Coach Clemens was pleased after the tournament stating, “The kids looked and wrestled great today. Now, we just need to keep building and improving for the remainder of the season.”
Raider wrestlers wrestling to a 5-0 record for the tourney were: George Clemens (106), Aaron Miller (126), Zaine Cotterman (132), Carl Elliott (138), Tyler Showalter (145), Jacob Dingus (152), Sawyer Temple (160), Daron Showalter (182), and Justin Pierce (220). Final scores were: WT 72-Antwerp 6, WT 66-Evergreen 10, WT 81-Danbury Lake 0, WT 59-Tinora 15, WT 60-Van Buren 18.
