Anna Belle Hoover Sudlow Jordan, 90, of Defiance, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center
Anna was born in Antwerp, Ohio on May 12, 1922, the youngest of six children of the late Flora Jeannette (Mobley) and Samuel L. Hoover. She attended school in Antwerp & Jensen Beach, FL. After the death of their mother, “Nettie”, Anna and her sister, Eileen were raised by their father, Sam, their oldest sister, Rosa (Hoover) Traylor, her husband Andrew Traylor, along with their daughter, Mary (Traylor) Lichty. In spite of a young life filled with difficulties, Anna became a strong-willed, resourceful, hardworking, caring & loving mother & wife. Her family will miss her 90 plus years of humor, honesty, witticism & ever ready advice, all of which she never hesitated to share.
On Sept 1, 1939, at the age of 16, she married Glenn G. Sudlow, who died in 1944. On November 16, 1946 she married Garner E. “Jack” Jordan, who died in 2001. She was a member of the Antwerp VFW Auxiliary & the Royal Neighbors of America.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Linda (John) Brecht of Continental; Judy Copsey of Woodburn, IN; William (Barbara) Jordan of Zolfo Springs, FL & Lori (Neal) Manon of Defiance; 16 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren & 4 great great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her children, Shirley & Glenn M. Sudlow; granddaughter, Sara Manon; great granddaughters, Alexis Coffin & Enedina Martinez; brother, Jasper in childhood; sisters, Rosa Traylor, Gertrude in infancy, Pearl Starry & Eileen in childhood.
Viewing is Saturday, 10 am-2 pm, with VFW Auxiliary service at 11 am, at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp.
Her service is at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp, at 2 pm on Saturday, January 5th.
She will be laid to rest at Maumee Cemetery.
