Students from Oakwood Elementary, Paulding Elementary, and Paulding Middle School competed in the district level of the National Geographic Bee Finals on January 3, 2012. Shana Manz will advance to the next level of competition, a written examination. Shana will move one step closer to a chance at a $25,000 scholarship. Shana is a 6th grader from Paulding Middle School, and is the daughter of Chris and Erica Manz. The school-level Bee, at which students answered oral questions on geography, was the first round in the 25th annual National Geographic Bee. The Bee is sponsored by the National Geographic Society. William Deisler, an 8th grader from Paulding Middle School, was the first runner-up. William is the son of Eric and Sarah Deisler. Shown in the photo are William and Shana.
