In the Mid 1970’s Harold Wilkin started the Animal Clinic of Paulding. He had a passion for animals which he used to be a contribution to the community. So much so, that he worked well into his 80’s. Today his son, Dr. Tom Wilkin along with Dr. Missie Bowman continue the tradition of treating animals for this area. They work along side Beth Schweinsberg, Audrey Hanenkratt, and Brooke Rothenbuhler.
Recently they decided to lease the old Dr. Snyder Office from the Defiance County Youth For Christ called the Samaritan Center. This new facility (theirs is suite B) is located at 1030 W. Wayne St. Paulding.
The Animal Clinic had outgrown their previous facility. The new location offers much more space including rooms for dental, surgery, examination, bathing, euthanization, grieving, X-Ray, and offices.
The Open House which took place last weekend had a great turnout and lots of fun with a surprise visit by Elvis (Bill Treat), who I didn’t realize was also a standup comedian! He had some interesting tales of each of the Clinic’s staff, plus some other “wise” words to heed. A silent auction was ongoing for the weekend of paintings, K-9 Custom Styling, and antiques. A Scentsy representative was also available. All of these were a fund-raiser for the Mercy Fund Animal Rescue.
Drs. Wilkin and Bowman are very excited about this new chapter in their business. “I just enjoy the variety that veterinarian medicine offers. Everyday is something different.” Dr. Wilkin commented when asked why he chose veterinarian medicine over human medicine. He wanted something that was a divergent from the norm.
The tradition of first class care of animals will definitely live on at the practice of the Animal Clinic of Paulding, and now it will be enhanced because of all the updated services. Bring that furry (or otherwise) friend in for a visit.
