Hicksville – Gregory J. Bauer, 65, died Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Community Memorial Hospital, Hicksville, Ohio from a heart attack.
Greg was born on October 1, 1947 in Hicksville, the son of Ardon and Mildred (Putzkilo) Bauer.
He was a 1965 graduate of Hicksville High School.
On February 25, 1984, he was united in marriage with Faye Morton and she survives.
He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Antwerp V.F.W., Antwerp Legion, Danville, Kentucky AmVets, Montpelier Moose and Hicksville Eagles. He loved auto racing, for many years he co-owned a late model asphalt car and then working on an outlaw sprint car. He loved rodeos, especially going with his son and watching him ride the bulls. He loved music, dancing, Antwerp softball and high school wrestling.
He retired from Dana Weatherhead, Antwerp, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife Faye (Morton); his father Ardon of Defiance, Ohio; son Brian Hattersley of Colorado Springs, CO; sister Tracy (Michael) Ondrejko of Defiance; granddaughter Brianna “Sis” of Colorado Springs, CO; mother-in-law Millie (Wilmer) Rohrbach of Monroeville, IN; brothers-in-law Doug (Sheila) Morton of New Haven, IN, Mike (Terry) Morton of Monroeville, IN and Larry (Linda) Rohrbach of Ft. Wayne, IN. Nieces Kalah, Kendra, Kelsey, Kate, Catherine, Lexi, Alena and nephews Kris, Scott, Matthew, and Sasha.
He was preceded in death by his mother Mildred.
Funeral services for Greg will be Thursday at 11:00 at Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville, Ohio. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home.
