BRYAN: Richard O. Garver, age 77 died Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance, Ohio.
He was born June 4, 1936 in Paulding County, Ohio, the son of Richard A. and Elizabeth (Lawson) Garver. On November 9, 1998 he married Betty Casper Grunden, who preceded him in death on February 12, 2013. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp; was a member of Eagles #2233 of Bryan; V.F.W. Post #587 Paulding; American Legion #178 Van Wert; and the Marine Corp League #758 Defiance. He retired from LaFarge Corporation in 1998.
He is survived by three granddaughters, Heather (David) Doolittle, Angola, IN, Anne Thomas and Dawn Emberling, both of Paulding; son-in-law, Doc Aldred of Paulding; two great grandsons, Brennen and Breyson; sister, Mary Branfield, Blytheville, Arkansas.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; a son, Ned A. Garver, a daughter, Dawnette Aldred; and sisters Veda Bayless and Rose Thomas.
Funeral services will be conducted 10 AM Saturday, September 7 at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding. Burial will be conducted in Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance.
Visitation will be 4 – 8PM Friday, September 6 at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding
