Eloise E. Gerig, 82, of Woodburn, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of the late William and Florence (nee Schinbeckler) Klaehn. She was an active member of the Christ Lutheran Church, Woodburn and was a Stephen Minister. She retired after 25 years from Parkview Memorial Hospital and then volunteered there for 10 years. She was a member of the Maumee Valley Extension Homemakers and held many offices for the Allen County Extension Homemakers. She participated and won many awards in the Open Class of the Allen County 4-H fair.
She is survived by her children, Jackie (Ron) Bandelier of Tipp City, OH, Dean (Linda) Gerig of Woodburn, Jill (Neil) Richter of Wesley Chapel, FL, and Denise (Don) Ecker of Plymouth; sister, Virginia (Carl) Fick of Ft. Wayne and sister-in-law, Barbara Klaehn of Ft. Wayne; nine grandchildren; two step grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and three step great grandchildren. Grandchildren, Alisa (Denis) Cahill, Sean Bandelier, Tyler (Kelly) Gerig, Brady (Sara) Gerig, Shaina (Evan) Schoof, Cody Gerig, Dylan Gerig, Andrew Richter, and Kelli Richter; step grandchildren, Michelle Ecker and Christina (Nathaniel) Hubley; great grandchildren, Devin, Aidan, and Dawson Cahill, Lilly, Madelyn, Owen, Breyer Gerig, and Kaylee Schoof; and step great grandchildren, Kelsey and Kaitlynn Miller, and Nicholas Hubley.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Merle L. Gerig in March 2013; and brother, Merlyn “Bud” Klaehn.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Monday, October 14, 2013 at Christ Lutheran Church, 4412 Park St., Woodburn with calling one hour prior. Rev. Timothy Edwards officiating. Calling is also 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial in the church cemetery.
