Laura Ashley Arend and Michael Aaron Wehrkamp were married Friday, September 6, 2013, at Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Paulding by Very Reverend G. Allan Fillman.
The bride’s parents are Donald and Susan Arend of Paulding. The groom’s parents are Terry and Nancy Wehrkamp of Paulding.
Nuptial music was performed by vocalists Cassie Jo Arend, Joanna Arend, Nick Arend, Carol Cowell, Fritz Koch, Rosann Laker, Randy Robinett, Michelle Stoller, and Greg White. Diane Goyings was the organist; Janet Miller, pianist; Dawn Sloan, flutist; Linda Sycks, oboist; and Eric Durre, trumpeter.
The bride wore a white, rich satin ball gown by Allure featuring a strapless bodice, flattering ruching, and a sweetheart neckline. Swarovski crystals encrusted the entire bodice. The gown had a cathedral-length train, complemented by the bride’s cathedral-length veil, whose edging was lined with Swarovski crystals. The bride wore a princess tiara also adorned by Swarovski crystals.
The bride carried a large handheld clutch bouquet of an array of spring mixed floral. Stargazer lilies were nestled into creamy white hydrangea blooms, while white oceana and fuchsia roses were placed throughout the bouquet. A hint of delicate button green chrysanthemum flowers was added as well. The bridal clutch stems were wrapped with a white French satin ribbon, and a crystal rosary was entwined within the satin ribbon.
Wedding colors were navy and white, with pink, green, and silver accents.
Attending the bride as matron of honor was Darcy Stoller, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Jennifer Arend, cousin of the bride; Megan Crawford, Ariana Handy and Stacy Mangette, friends of the bride; and Connie and Laurel Wehrkamp, sisters of the groom. The flower girl was Brynlee Mangette, friend of the bride.
Serving the groom as best man was Alex Stoller, friend of the groom and brother-in-law of the bride. Groomsmen were Joe Faykosh, Matthew Hochstetler and Alan Miller, friends of the groom. Serving as ushers were Marty Crossland and Darin Van Vlerah, friends of the groom. The ringbearer was Luke Stoller, nephew of the bride.
A reception for 375 guests was held at the Defiance K of C Hall.
The bride is a 2003 graduate of Paulding High School; and a 2007 graduate of the University of Saint Francis, Fort Wayne, with a bachelor of science in nursing. She is a registered nurse at Parkview Physicians Group, Fort Wayne.
The groom is a 2002 graduate of Paulding High School; a 2006 graduate of The Ohio State University, with a bachelor of arts in political science; and a 2009 graduate of the University of Toledo College of Law. He is a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Vernon L. Preston of the Ohio Third District Court of Appeals, Lima.
The couple traveled to Bora Bora, French Polynesia, for their honeymoon.
Michael and Laura reside in Paulding.
