Dolores E. Retcher, 90, of Defiance, passed away on November 30, 2013 at the CHP Defiance In-Patient Hospice Center.
She was born on May 5, 1923 to Glen and Mabel (Houck) Porter at Defiance, OH. She was a housewife, mother of 10 children, and a member of St. John Lutheran Church. Dolores loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was known for her amazing cookies, and for always having the Lawrence Welk show playing on the TV.
Dolores is survived by her sons, Jerry (Carol) Retcher of Defiance, OH, Terry (Mary Ellen) Retcher of Cecil, OH, Don (Michelle) Retcher of Defiance, OH, Marvin (Lois) Retcher of Defiance, OH, Melvin (Mary) Retcher of Defiance, OH, daughters, Cynthia Retcher of Ft. Wayne, IN, Barbara Ratzlaff of Defiance, OH, Connie (Mike) Kohart of Oakwood, OH, Marsha (Matt) Hackman of Idaho Falls, ID, Greda (Jim Ransbottom) Retcher of Ft. Wayne, IN, 39 grandchildren, 39 Great-Grandchildren, 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Irvin W. Retcher, mother, Mabel Houck, father, Glen Porter, brothers, Darl, Eugene, and Gerald Porter, and sister, Helen Shawver.
Visitation will be held on Friday December 6th, 2013 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Inc., Defiance, Ohio, and on the 7th from 12:00-1:00 pm at St. John Lutheran Church.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 7th, 2013, at 1:00 PM at the St. John Lutheran Church, with Rev. Donald Luhring officiating.
Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery.
