HICKSVILLE, OHIO
Mary Lou Kemerer Peter, 87, died Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
She was born on May 15, 1926 in Payne, Ohio, the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Perl) Derck.
Mary was a 1944 graduate of Antwerp High School.
On June 23, 1945, she was united in marriage to Robert Kemerer and he preceded her in death on September 4, 1991. On April 26, 1997, she married Kermit Peter and he preceded her in death on September 9, 2011.
Mary was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Hicksville where she was a member of the Alter Rosary Society. She was also a member of the All Together Club.
Mary is survived by two sons- Joseph (Vicki) Kemerer, Thomas (Kathy) Kemerer, all of Hicksville; three daughters- Marabeth ( Henry) Miller, Leesa (Jim) Battershell, all of Hicksville, Barbara (Richard) Shininger of Defiance, Ohio; (14) grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sisters- Beth Hammond, Kathleen Franklin; brother Steve Derck, all of Antwerp; step children- Phyllis (Claren) Osmun, Patricia Peter, Mary Jo (Craig) Cherry; step son- Melvin (Peggy) Peter and a step daughter in law-Marsha Peter.
She was preceded in death by a son Michael in 1976; granddaughter Amy Miller; grandson Eric Battershell and a brother Jerry Derck; and a step son Charles Peter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 11:00 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Hicksville. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00 to 8:00 at Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville.
Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville.
