Parkview Health adds Paulding County Hospital to electronic health record system
Parkview Health and Paulding County Hospital recently announced the two will collaborate in an effort to better patient care and access to medical information through Parkview Community Connect. Parkview’s Community Connect program works to extend electronic health records to independent physicians and hospitals throughout the region. As part of this alignment, Paulding County Hospital remains independent but can tap into the same electronic health record system that Parkview facilities use.
“Availability of an electronic health record system is essential in today’s fast paced, digital world and will help us further provide excellent care to our patients and improve healthcare access for the entire community,” said Gary Adkins, CEO, Paulding County Hospital. “We are very pleased to collaborate with Parkview on this project. Access to such a robust system of records that patients and physicians can view anywhere with a secure internet connection is a great tool to have available.”
Parkview Community Connect securely connects patients and doctors into their personal electronic health record used in all Parkview hospitals, physicians’ offices and all participating independent hospitals and physician’s offices. This integrated approach was designed to help eliminate paperwork, decrease cost by eliminating duplicate tests, increase efficiency, improve patients’ quality of care and much more.
Paulding County Hospital was the first hospital to participate in Parkview Community Connect. Since May, when Parkview began communicating the availability of Community Connect, multiple northeast Indiana physician practices have signed on. Implementation of the program in Paulding County Hospital is underway in anticipation of a May 30, 2014 activation date.
