Eugene Handy, 88, of Antwerp, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Hickory Creek Nursing Home.
Gene was born in Rockhaven, KY on June 3, 1925, a son of the late Annie (Lewis) and Volney Handy.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a Fireman 1st Class in WW II; was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the VFW, & American Legion. Having worked in woodwire & metal lathing, Gene was a member of the Carpenters Union Local #32.
On Nov 22, 1946 Gene married Cara Lou Lichty.
Gene will be sadly missed by his wife, Cara Lou; daughters, Carol (Michael) Brown of Findlay, Ava (Hazen) Kennedy & Linda (Roland “Pudge”) Kennedy both of Antwerp; 9 grandchildren & 17 great grandchildren, with another expected in June. Also preceding him in death are his daughter & son-in-law, Marcia & Phil Helms; siblings, Pearl Cravens, Thelma Handy, Josephine Maynard, Elizabeth Creasy, Herbert, Buford, Frank & Willliam Handy.
His service is Monday at 10 am with viewing one hour prior at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp, where viewing is also Sunday, 2-6 pm. He will be laid to rest at Maumee Cemetery.
