Defiance – A fatal crash occurred today’s date at approximately 1130 on State Route 66 north of Banner School Road in Tiffin Township. A 2002 Jeep Wrangler was southbound on State Route 66 when the driver lost control and went left of center. The Jeep was then struck broadside by a northbound 2004 Chevy 2500 pickup truck. Both vehicles came to rest off of the east side of the roadway.
The driver of the Jeep, Lucas J. Carnahan age 25, of 521 Second Street Defiance, Ohio and his passenger Constance M. Gray age 23, same address were killed in the crash. The driver of the Chevy pickup, Bradley E. Bodenbender, age 20, of 116 North Allen Street Bryan, Ohio received minor injuries and was transported to Defiance Regional Hospital by the Tiffin Township EMS.
Mr. Carnahan was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash. Ms. Gray and Mr. Bodenbender were wearing safety belts. The crash remains under investigation by the Defiance Patrol Post.
