LATTY:
Tony James Gray, age 65 died Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at St. Joseph Hospital, Ft. Wayne, IN where he had been a patient since January 21, 2014.
He was born September 8, 1948 in Paulding County, Ohio, the son of John F. and Millicent Barbara (Gibbons) Gray. On December 21, 1966 he married Jane A. Carnahan, who survives. He was US Army Veteran serving during the Viet Nam War and a member of Friends United Methodist Church, Latty. He was owner of Jim and Jane’s Lunch, Paulding, and Gray’s Tree Service. He was employed by Law Enforcement in Paulding County; and held a variety of positions in the community. He retired in 1999 from Paulding County Engineers Office as a county highway worker. He enjoyed gardening, mowing yards, grandchildren, drinking coffee with his buddies, and helping others.
Tony is survived by his wife, Jane Gray, Latty; four children: Jenese (Michael) Morton, Woodbridge, VA, Jacquelyn (Tony) Francis, of Yokota Air Base, Japan, Jason (April) Gray, Convoy, OH and Jonathon (Kathleen) Gray, Van Wert, OH; a brother, John W. (Patty) Gray, Payne; a sister, Caroline (Klee) Dangler, Cecil, OH; nine grandchildren: Meghan (Ike) Vernon Jr., Kathryn (Stephen) Mourning, Sarah Morton, Dakota and Eli Francis, Dru, Paylin, Irie and Cruz Gray; great grandchildren: Daniel, Josiah, Benjamin and Malcolm.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 AM Friday, February 21, 2014 at Paulding United Methodist Church, with Pastor Ron Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, with military graveside rites accorded by Paulding VFW Post #587.
Visitation will be 2-8PM Thursday, February 20 at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations made to Latty Friends United Methodist church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
