Catholic men from around the region are warmly invited to spend a few hours focusing on their faith and its implications during the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend’s Rekindle the Fire men’s conference this Saturday, Feb. 22.
The fourth annual event takes place at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, 4000 Parnell Ave., Fort Wayne. Registration begins at 9 a.m.
The agenda culminates with a Mass celebrated by Bishop Kevin Rhoades at 4 p.m., also at the Coliseum.
Organizers hope that the day’s activities lend the kind of support to Catholic men that will refresh their lives and their faith. Their aim is to rekindle the fire of Christ’s love within themselves so that they, in turn, become better leaders, friends, husbands, fathers and sons: the men God calls them to be through prayer, fellowship, faith and spiritual service to their families, parish and community.
Participants at past conferences stated that the featured speakers reminded them of their roles in leading their families to heaven and provided tools to help them do just that.
Speakers for the event will be:
Monsignor Michael Heintz, director of the Masters of Divinity program at the University of Notre Dame and rector of St. Matthew’s Cathedral, South Bend.
International author, speaker and radio host Jon Leonetti. Leonetti’s keynote presentations and intergenerational Surge of the Heart Parish Missions help thousands of Catholics each year discover the freedom Christ offers by way of His life and love.
Doug Barry, founder and director of RADIX, a Catholic apostolate founded in 1992. Barry spreads and defends the Catholic faith nationally and internationally with dynamic and explosive style. He is perhaps best known for his one-man performance of the Passion of Christ, seen on EWTN and other Christian television channels.
Hector Molina, speaker and apologist on the staff of Catholic Answers. With over 20 years of experience in professional pastoral ministry, the husband and father of five also conducts parish seminars, missions, retreats and conferences with passion articulate expositions as a defender of the faith.
Numerous priests will attend the conference to hear confessions, and a special young adult session will take place as well.
Conference registrations are being accepted through Friday night at rekindlethefire.net, and Saturday on site. Check the website for more information.
