The Raiders climbed back up after a difficult first half.
Last week Wayne Trace won the sectional championship game against Continental at Paulding, sending them to the first game of Districts at Van Wert High School. This game took place on Tuesday, March 4th against Pettisville who won against North Central at Bryan High School.
The first half was slow for both teams. The first quarter went fairly well for the Raiders, but the second dragged on and Wayne Trace had a hard time rebounding the ball, scoring 4 less than Pettisville. The half finished at a tied game of 18 all.
Second half was a game changer for the home team as the third and fourth quarters had the full team attention and Ethan Linder was leading the charge, making 9 of 11 free throws. The pace of the game picked up substantially. Many three point shots were attempted but only Luke Miller and Corbin Linder succeeded.
One particular note of interest in this game: Pettisville missed more than half of the free throws in this game. If Noah Miller or Korben Rychnener would have made their baskets, the game would have been very close by the end.
As the Wayne Trace boys advance in the tournament they will have to be better at getting the game under control in the first quarter to continue on.
Score by Quarter:
Wayne Trace: 10 8 13 16 = 47
Pettisville: 6 12 5 14 = 37
Raider Points by Player: Ethan Linder 15, David Sinn 11, Colby Speice 8, Luke Miller, Jake Arend and Corbin Linder all with 4, Devin Wenzlick 1.
Wayne Trace plays against Ayersville, who won against Edgerton 57-35, on Friday, March 7 at 7 pm at Van Wert High School.
