The Children’s Room of the Paulding County Carnegie Library is sponsoring a Lego Night at the Library! Lego sets will be provided by the library.
What’s the connection between Legos and books? Studies have shown that promoting play contributes to early literacy development by increasing attention span, memory, creativity, and language and vocabulary skills. It also lays the foundation for logical mathematical thinking, scientific reasoning, and problem solving—things youth will carry with them throughout their school years. Other studies found that tactile and kinesthetic learning increase student understanding.
But perhaps the main reason the Children’s Room is sponsoring this event is that it is just plain fun and allows children to use their creativity. Plus, it provides another opportunity to introduce the library to young readers. The event is open to children in grades 4 through 6th. It will be held on Thursday, March 20th from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the main historic Carnegie library in Paulding. Snacks and prizes will be provided as well as the Legos. Space is limited, so pre-registration is required. Call the Children’s Room at 419-399-2032 to register and for more information.
