Paulding County was well represented by Mr. Miller.
Marcus Miller recently finished first for Paulding County at the Spelling bee. He moved on to the regionals which took place Saturday, March 8 at the Rhinehart Music Center at IPFW in Fort Wayne. This annual event is sponsored by the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette.
Mr. Miller was labeled as “7” in this education competition. There were 15 different counties represented in this competition with smart young people from all these locations. The spelling match continued the young people dropped out one by one as the rounds increased. By the 14th Round Marcus spelled incorruptible, souvenir, then periphery. Another was eliminated in this 16th round.
It was the 17th round with Marcus made a mistake on the word ‘passel’, but this was long after most of the other competitors fell. He placed 3rd out of all the counties. Marcus showed a strong confidence and demeanor that others did not. The winner was the same as last year – Lwin Moe Aung representing Allen County won the 60th annual Journal Gazette Regional Spelling Bee, and will represent the area at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington in May.
Great job to Marcus Miller who attends Paulding Middle School and all of the other participants.
