PAULDING:
Helen Imogene “Jean” Scarbrough, age 81, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at the Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Ft. Wayne, IN.
She was born September 7, 1932 in Paulding County, Ohio, the daughter of Francis and Virginia (Ladd) Pier. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Grover Hill.
She is survived by her companion of 35 years, Vaughn Sanderson, Paulding; children: Sandra (Steve) Stecker, Mindoro, WI, Sue (Edgar) Doster, Paulding, and Michael Scarbrough, Wren, OH; siblings: Eileen Haines of Markle, IN, Ray (Joan) Pier, Antwerp, Carroll “Toot” (Marilyn) Pier, Oakwood, Roger (Marlene) Pier, Antwerp, John (Bonnie) Pier, Melrose, and Dave (Sarah) Pier, Charloe; 3 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Pier.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 AM Tuesday, April 29 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Co. Rd. 151, Grover Hill with Pastor Dave Prior officiating. Burial will be in Hedges Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-8PM Monday, April 28 at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, and one hour prior to services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to Community Health Professionals or American Cancer Society.
