Friday is set for a good matchup between the two top teams of the GMC.
Wayne Trace took on the North Central Eagles on Thursday, May 22 at Bryan for the first round of District Softball. The prior game had Hicksville defeating Edgerton in a close match.
The Bulldogs and the Aces were a close match and the final score was only 4-2. With sophomore Carli Ayers catching the last out in left field.
The Lady Raiders hit the field with a 17-6 record after defeating Delphos Jefferson in the sectional championship on Saturday.
The game started with the Lady Raiders taking the field. Junior Addison Baumle, pitcher, was on fire, burning up the mound with every pitch. She said she didn’t get tired and was able to perform consistently with fast ball strikes down the line, adding 12 strikeouts to her resume. It brought back memories of another top Wayne Trace pitcher of the past, Marcie McDougle. The outfield also had several great catches with Brenda Feasby and Carley Wright.
Slowly and steadily Wayne Trace posted points to their side of the board starting with Emilie Linder getting the first hit and following shortly after with the first run.
Everyone who was there noticed consistency from the entire Raider team pulling together while the Eagles failed to get off the ground. Coach Jack Baumle was very proud of his team.
