Another fantastic game in a string of victories for the Lady Raiders!
Wayne Trace won against Hicksville last week in the District Championship game, sending the Raiders to Regional Semi-Final softball game on Wednesday, May 28 in Findlay against New Riegel, who won against Carey.
No one would have thought the game would have been so low scoring, but that is exactly what happened on this diamond. Very few hits, and many outs. There were times in the early innings where The Yellow Jackets were near to scoring but the Lady Raiders successfully zapped the action.
The sixth inning was the game changing period for the home team. Mackenzie Swary gets on base after getting a hit and steals third. Brenda Feasby, next up at bat, hits a fly foul with first the first baseman catching the pop fly. Libby Stabler then hits the ball, gets the only double in the game and Swary runs in to score the first and only point of the night. The home team crowd is now going wild! With the next hit Libby slides in at home, but is called out by the home plate umpire and the seventh inning begins (see the pictures and judge for yourself).
The Yellow Jackets were at bat next in the seventh inning. The Lady Raiders successfully held their one point lead after getting the third out, winning the game 1-0.
Coach Jack Baumle was very ecstatic about the team winning. Coach became emotional while explaining how proud he is of the seniors and the rest of the team. “They really have come a long way and they deserve it.”
In 2010 The Jackets stopped Wayne Trace at Regional Finals game and the girls remembered how they wanted to get the win back. Job completed for Raider Nation!
