Janeil E. (Byrd) Malfait, 55 of Spencerville, and a longtime resident of Bluffton, passed away at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at her residence in Spencerville.
Janeil was born on December 2, 1958 in Wells County, Indiana to Richard Wayne & Joyce Ilene (Genits) Byrd. She was a 1977 graduate of Bluffton High School. She worked from 1975 to 2011 in the business office of the Caylor-Nickel Clinic and Bluffton Regional Medical Center. She was currently employed in the business office at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. Janeil was a long time member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Yoder, IN.
On September 8, 1989 she married Keith L. Malfait. He survives in rural Spencerville along with a brother Greg (wife Kathy) Byrd of Yoder, IN. Other survivors include; her mother in law, Joann Malfait of Woodburn, IN, along with brothers -in-laws; Joseph A. (wife Janeen) Malfait of Woodburn, IN, Mark (wife Carolyn) Mailfait of Woodburn, IN, sister-in-laws; Karen (husband Lynn) Cress of Decatur, Kathy (husband Jerome) Baumle of Payne, OH, Mona Byrd of Markle, IN, along with several nieces and nephews.
Janeil is preceded in death by her parents, a brother Daniel W. Byrd and a sister Diane Byrd and her father-in-law, Joseph Malfait.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 8 on Friday, June 20, 2014 at the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton, IN with a rosary service being held at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Yoder. Msgr. Bernard Galic will officiate. Burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Payne, Ohio. Memorials may be made in Janeil’s memory to masses or to the Friends of the Wells County Animal Shelter in care of the Wells County Foundation or Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.
