Teresa C. Hertel, 87, of Antwerp passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014 surrounded by her family at her son’s home.
Teresa was born in Mark Center on January 28, 1927, a daughter of the late Mary Louise (Martin) and William J. Arend.
After graduating from Mark Twp. High School in 1945, she moved to Fort Wayne and worked in the shipping department at General Electric until 1952, when she married Basil “Bake” Hertel on October 4th.Basil died Feb. 4, 2011.
Teresa enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking & sewing, but her favorite was crocheting lace doilies, snowflakes & angels, which she gave as gifts. She was a member of Divine Mercy Catholic Parish. As a member of the Altar/Rosary Society she helped make noodles and angle food cakes for fundraisers.
Teresa will be sadly missed by her children, Marilyn (Paul) Arceo of Fort Wayne & Raymond (Linda) of Antwerp; siblings, Lillian Breidenbaugh of Hicksville, Mabelle Arend of Perrysburg & Vivian Mullaney of San Francisco, Ivan Arend of Dunedin, FL; 2 step grandchildren & 3 step great grandchildren.
She is also preceded in death by, sisters, Rita Marshall & Pauline Arend and brothers, Eugene & Louis Arend.
Her Funeral Mass is at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Antwerp, Tuesday, 10 am.
Viewing is Monday, 5 – 7:30 pm with a vigil service at 7:30 pm at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp, where viewing is also Tuesday, 9 – 9:30 am.
She will be laid to rest at Maumee Cemetery.
