Friday began the festivities with the Co-Ed Softball Tournament and following was the Trivia Night at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, July 19 the Woodburn Community hosted their annual Summer fest with the morning starting with the annual Lions Club Donuts being served bright and early at 8:00 a.m. The weather was perfect for the fun weekend!
Horseshoes were in the morning while the competition for the cornhole tournament, pie eating, cookie stacking and pizza contest were held.
Isabelle Stapleton was crowned the princess at the parade.
The winners of the Cornhole Tournament: 3rd Place: Daniel Wickey and Larry Wickey; 2nd Place: Craig Collins and Harry Lengacher; and 1st Place was Mike Schwartz and Mervin Schwartz.
For the Pizza Eating Contest the winner was choses by who finished their entire pizza in the shortest time. All the pizza was provided by Jim’s. The contest took longer than expected but before long, John Allgeier won the contest by at least a two piece lead.
This was the 149th year for the City of Woodburn. Next year, there is a planned 2-day celebration for the 150th anniversary on June 12-13.
