Paulding County Sheriff Jason Landers
On August 1, 2014, officers with the Defiance Police Department, assisted by members of the Paulding County Sheriffs Office, arrested Steven G. Noffsinger, age 58, from Defiance, Ohio. Noffsinger was arrested on a Warrant on Indictment for Aggravated Murder with Specification, an Unclassified Felony.
This arrest comes as a result of a special Grand Jury that was held in Paulding on July 31, 2014, in regards to a cold case homicide from 1981. On November 17, 1981, Alma Noffsinger was found beaten to death inside her residence in Oakwood, Ohio.
“Deputy Rob Garcia and Lt. Brion Hanenkratt have put a lot of man hours into this cold case over the past several months, along with cold case investigators that were brought in to assist our office. I commend them for their dedication to see this through. I am pleased to know the healing process can start for Alma’s family.” stated Sheriff Landers
