The game on August 19 started with the Woodlan JV girls mustering the will to win 2 sets to 0, defeating their next door neighbors, New Haven, at the Warrior home court.
The varsity game started as a surprise. New Haven pulled out all the stops and crushed Woodlan 25-8 in the first set. The new head coach for the Bulldogs, Jenni Wallace, “The girls did an great job and it was a great way to start off the season!!”
Set two began with New Haven taking an early lead but the Warriors came back and took the lead at 8-7. The set was close for the rest of the match. Woodlan kept their lead and won 25-20 the set tying the game at 1-1.
New Haven pulled off the next 2 sets (26-24 in OT) and (25-20) winning the game 4-1.
New Haven Leaders:
Annalea Francis lead with kills (6) and had 10 aces.
Andrea Jordan followed with 5 kills as well as Hadley Decker with 4 kills
Ashely Luginbill and Olivia Casterline both lead the team in digs with 7 each and Ashely also contributed 6 aces
Audrea lead the team in assists with 12 and Ella Cordray was right behind with 7 assists
Megan Kage lead the team in blocks with 4
