Antwerp Narrowly Falls to Holgate

Homecoming events started the evening at Antwerp High School about an hour before the game on Friday, September 26th. The parade began with the Band marching in the lead with the 2014 homecoming princess and prince: Reese Wyatt and Durbin Cline following. The high school court came next. Selected this year for the homecoming King and Queen are Darian Bauer and Willie Jones.

The game started with the Archers scoring the first touchdown. Holgate quickly raised their score to 12 points, taking the lead from Antwerp. The last touchdown for Antwerp was by Trenton Copsey after a reception from Poulson for a 79 yard run. Antwerp scored a field goal by Jarett Bute. Nick Barnhouse and Justice Clark both scored two touchdowns for the game.

Unfortunately for the Archers, they couldn’t pull 3 points before time ran out. It was close but the Tigers won 32-30.

Antwerp boys had a great night. Coach Drew Altimus stated, “These boys gave everything – more than what I asked or expected.”

Altogether Antwerp had 422 offensive yards compared to 329 for the guest team.
