In a 42-21 victory over Columbia City, the New Haven Bulldog’s showed they studied hard during the week, brushing up on a few C’s in their big win over CC on Friday—the Dogs proved to be Competent, Capable, and have the ability to play with the heart of Champions.
Leading the team with a career record setting night was Nishawn Jones, who set the pace early on for New Haven with an unbelievable 98 yard touchdown run against the Eagles. Jones carried the ball 15 times for an unprecedented 278 yards and 4 touchdowns on Friday night. Tremon Jackson also posted some major mileage for the Bulldogs, breaching the 100 rushing yards marker with 12 touches for 105 total yards.
Quarterback Vance Shearer completed 6 of 7 passes on Friday night for 109 passing yards, with one of his favorite targets, Travis Crowe, catching six of the passes for 63 yards and a touchdown. Isaiah Moore had four catches for 65 yards. TJ Moeller’s six extra point kick attempts were good, and he also made two tackles while on special teams against the Eagles.
On the defensive side, Adam Hoffer racked up fifteen tackles against the Eagles. Nate Kitzmiller had 9 tackles for New Haven, while Mikeal Griggs and J’Keveous Hampton both had 3 tackles a piece for the Bulldogs.
Friday, October 3rd will mark New Haven’s annual Homecoming at the John H. Young field at New Haven High School. The parade will start at 4:30 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic School and head through downtown, ending at New Haven High School at 1300 Green Road, New Haven. Tailgating, activities, and food will be available at the school beginning at 5:45 p.m. with the football game vs. Belmont taking place at 7:00 p.m.
