Amber Lucas, her husband Nate and their boys Lincoln and Noah, are putting up a fight to beat breast cancer. Amber was diagnosed on July 8th with stage 3 breast cancer and since then has had a bilateral mastectomy on August 4th, a port implanted, and started chemotherapy 9/11/14. She is on round three of chemotherapy with five more treatments to go. After chemotherapy treatment, Amber will need radiation.
Amber wants her experience to help others by making the importance of performing monthly self-breast exams (women 21 and older) and yearly mammograms (for women over 40) a priority. Amber also reflects on her faith in regards to her diagnosis. She states “cancer is eye opening” in that it reveals how awesome God is and how he puts people in our lives not by accident but with true purpose.
