Only 25% of the teams left in the tournament.
After winning the first game of the tournament against the Eagles last week, the Warriors moved on to face the Blazers on Friday night’s game at the home field.
Few fans showed up for the tournament matchup against Eastside because of the nasty weather.
Woodlan scored early and often. Starting with Mitchell VanBrocklin in the first quarter and earning the two point conversion after a penalty, brought the Warriors right next to the endzone. VanBrocklin also scored another touchdown in the first quarter and Quentin Graber successfully added the point after, finishing the quarter 15-0.
The second quarter had Shawn Kitzmiller score after receiving a pass from quarterback Rick Ehle. The point after by Graber was also good.
The home team was close to the goal for the next touchdown with VanBrocklin adding another 7 points. Graber once again was successful in the kick. Eastside had not given up yet and started their scoring spree, scaring the heck out of Woodlan nearing the end of the game. The Blazers added two touchdowns before the end of the first half, making the score 29-14.
Woodlan did not score any points in the second half while the Blazers added two touchdowns of their own. The score was dangerously close after Eastside scored their 4th touchdown of the game.
The final score left Woodlan in the lead 29-26 and winning the playoff match. Eastside finished their season with a record of 9-2 with both losses handed to them by the Warriors.
The Woodlan boys offense outran Eastside 430 yards – 350 yards.
Woodlan will continue in the tournament on Friday night, November 7 at the Etzler field against Bremen at 7:30 pm.
