The night before the Paulding team travelled to Antwerp to scout the competition for the next game they would be playing at the Archer court. Would it be close?
The game began Saturday, December 6 and the Archers were giving the Panthers a run for their money, going into overdrive and scoring 22 points in the first quarter alone. Paulding was getting worried.
Paulding quickly realized Sam Williamson had to be shutdown. Overall Williamson posted 30 points, topping the scoring list.
The second quarter Antwerp only put four points on the new scoreboard while Paulding added 24 for their best quarter. In fact, this was the difference in the game – 20 points.
Swimming upstream for the rest of the game is what Antwerp boys were doing.
Paulding kept the top score with Alex Arellano and Treston Gonzales leading the Panthers.
The Panthers finished with the 20 point lead of 74-54.

Antwerp Boys win First Game vs Blackbirds
December 4 hosted Pettisville at Antwerp for the first game of the boys basketball season for the Archers. The first quarter had the Blackbirds outpacing the home team by more than double. The second quarter the Antwerp team doubled the Pettisville team for a half time score of 22-18.
The end of the third quarter the Blackbirds tied the game up at 31.
The fourth quarter the Antwerp defense and offense both started working together for the end goal of winning the game. Sam Williamson plunked down 2 – 3 point baskets, 10 points from inside the 3 point circle and 2 from the line, leading the Archers with 18 points for the game. Trenton Copsey had the most free-throw points with 7 in addition to 6 points under the basket. Matt Jones had 7 points. Trey Mills 4, Josh Longardner 6, and 2 for Brandon Pendergrast.
The game finished with the Archers winning 49-37.
