The annual game between Paulding and Wayne Trace took place on Saturday, December 13 at the Palace. The Raiders won the JV game 42-37 and the varsity match was able to start early.
The Raiders scored the first baskets and quickly the boys had an early lead with Corbin Linder’s points. Paulding was trounced in the first 7 minutes of the quarter with a 19-5 lead. It was nearly devastating for the Panthers as theh tried to hold on to the ball. The turnovers wouldn’t stop. It wasn’t until a getaway break when Paulding’s Treston Gonzales stole a pass, ran down to their basket and dunks the ball, starting the Paulding revival. Within the minute left of the first quarter, the Paulding boys were able to score another 7 points with Alex Arellano leading the charge.
The second quarter the game was much more controlled with both teams doing well. Luke Miller had a great first half and Wayne Trace still kept the lead but it was near the difference seen by the first quarter. By the half the score was 33-24 and both teams scored the same in the fourth quarter.
By the fourth quarter Wayne Trace kept their lead and eventually finished with the lead with a final score of 69-54.
