Paulding County Commissioners Meeting Minutes 01/05/15

This 5th day of January, 2015, the Board of County Commissioners met in regular session with the following members present:
Tony Zartman, Roy Klopfenstein, Mark Holtsberry, and Nola Ginter, Clerk
ALLOWANCE OF CLAIMS:
Warrants documented as 213175 through 213195 for County Bills were approved and certified to the County Auditor for payment.
Meeting Notes of Appointments:
• Jarod Renollet, Deputy Dog Warden – Mr. Renollet met briefly with the Commissioners and Claudia Fickel, County Auditor, to discuss dog tags. Dog tags will be on sale in the Auditor’s Office through January 31 for the calendar year 2015. Mr. Renollet noted there will be one more notice in the newspaper. He intends on follow-up to those who purchased tags in 2014 and not for 2015 by sending post cards. Mr. Renollet reported handling 309 dogs in 2014. 57 were adopted and 163 were redeemed by their owners. 61 dogs were rescued and only 24 were euthanized. Mr. Renollet emphasized the Paulding County Dog Kennel has a ‘no suffering’ policy. Most euthanizations were performed due to the dog’s aggressive behavior or its unresolved health/medical issues. Mr. Renollet requested permission to attend a Humane Agent Training on animal cruelty and the law in London, Ohio, on February 17, 18, and 19. The assistant Dog Warden will oversee the kennel on the days he is gone. Mr. Renollet reported mechanical issues with the S-10. He also noted he is working with the Sheriff’s Office to obtain a taser gun for use on the job.
• Pam Miller and Jerry Zielke, Paulding County Economic Development – Ms. Miller presented paperwork for an RLF (paid in full) for the Commissioners’ signatures. Mr. Zielke provided an update on the job/career expo he would like to sponsor at the Paulding County fair this summer.
• Corey Walker, Defiance/Paulding County Consolidated Job and Family Services – Mr. Walker reported he has the Harrison Street building cleaned out with the exception of two rooms. He noted a variety of office equipment to relocate. Mr. Walker commented the agency is running smoothly, in spite of the hurdles they have jumped this past year. He reminded the Commissioners the next board meeting is March 2, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., in Paulding.
