Woodlan Falls to Churbusco

Woodlan opened 2A Sectional Boys’ Basketball tournament play against ACAC rival Adams Central and the Warriors got on top early with an 8-0 run, but the Jets took off with a run of their own, going 11-0 in the last half of the first period to lead 11-8. After a couple of lead changes and a tie in the second quarter, Woodlan took the lead for good and led 29-23 by halftime. The Warriors kept building on their advantage in the second half, outscoring Adams Central 46-23 in the final 16 minutes and the Warriors advanced to the sectional semi-final against Churubusco. Andrew Krahn scored 18 points for the Warriors, one of three players to hit for double figures.

Woodlan Falls to Churbusco in sectionals
Woodlan’s finale took place on Friday against Churubusco. The Warriors may have bested Churubusco in football sectionals back in October, but now it was time for the Eagles to have their way with the home team.
The game began with ‘busco taking the early lead, doubling the score of the Warriors. Woodlan still was able to get points on the board and in the second quarter they were much more successful. Both teams added 17. Austin Fancher, Jeffrey Jones and Aaron Hahn were scoring but not at the pace of the Eagles.
Third quarter was the clincher for the evening when Churubusco was able to add 31 points on the score board. The final score was 86-58, sending the Eagles to the Sectional championship game.
