Douglas “Doug” Geller

20150325-162510_GellerDouglas71407obitDouglas “Doug” Geller, 73, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Born in Indianapolis, Doug was a senior production planner with Lincoln Food Service Products Inc. for 35 years, retiring in 2007. He was an Eagle Scout with Palms and Silver Explorer, served as a Cub and Boy Scout Leader, and earned the Scouter’s training award. He served as VP of East Suburban Little League as well as coaching T-Ball, Little League, girls softball, and Pal football. He was awarded the Life Saving Award from the Police Athletic League. He was currently on the Board of Directors on Lakes of Scarborough/Ashford Lakes Community Assoc. He joined Emergency 45 in 1985, serving as a basic EMT. He then progressed into a Advanced EMT, Paramedic, ending up serving as a State Instructor and President of the volunteer Emergency 45 Assoc. Doug joined the New Haven Festival Committee in 1987. He then was elected VP in 1988 and in 1989 was elected President and served for 15 years. He became a member of these Committees: State Festival Assoc., Save Jury Pool, Community Center, Indy 500, and Mayor’s Ride Committee. Doug also was a citizen’s academy coordinator and facilitator, city volunteer, and served in several political elections with EACS Board of Election Committee. Surviving are his wife, Marcia Geller of New Haven, children; Dale Geller of Fort Wayne, Michelle (Charles) Burns of Novi, MI, Nicole Geller of McCordsville, grandchildren, Kirstin, Cory, Bryce, Sydney, Aubrey, and Brayden.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lois Geller, and brother, Phillip Geller.

Service is 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 28, 2015 at D. O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road with calling one hour prior, Rev. Terry McDonald officiating. Calling at the funeral home Friday, March 27, 2015, 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm & 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
