Saturday, March 28 the Paulding Band Members each played their part for the Music of the Night with the 2015 theme of “Carnival of the Animals”.
Usually calling sports names, Mr. Sam Hatcher instead presented the band very well on this fine evening.
Spring is a great time for the final concert of the year and having a dinner to go along with the music, prepared by Grant’s Catering, makes it all the more fulfilling.
Mr. Don Clark, the Paulding Band Director, has now been at Paulding for five years. He has turned the program completely around and more young people are joining. The quality of the band is very good. This year the band earned a Superior rating in all categories of qualifications at the District Competition. The band will move on to the state competition in early May. “This is the first time since the 1970’s the band has won Districts three years on a row.” stated Director Clark.
Following the dinner was the Silent Auction and all of the items were purchased, raising quite a bit of money for the Paulding Band Boosters. Jason Klingler won the 50/50 contest.
The Elementary Bands from Paulding & Oakwood started the evening. Following their performance was the Middle School Band. Both of the younger bands played well above the level a person would expect for musicians of these age groups. Lastly, the High School Band played a number of feature songs, all having to do with creatures. Between each of the band’s songs an animal was presented by Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo and displayed to the dinner guests.
It was a fine evening for the boosters with their largest attendance ever, filling the entire high school gym. Great job to all the Band Members for proudly representing Paulding Schools!
