PAULDING:
Richard W. Emerling Sr. age 66 died Friday, March 27, 2015 at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice, Van Wert, Ohio.
He was born March 14, 1949 in Defiance, Ohio, the son of William and Frieda (Bostater) Emerling. On August 19, 1976 he married Cheryl A. Tunis, who survives. He retired in 2014 from John Manville, Defiance, after 47 years. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club, Defiance, and Paulding Fraternal Order of Eagles #2405. He enjoyed his grandchildren; the outdoors – hunting, fishing and working in his workshop.
He is also survived by children: Dawn (Mike) Knox, Defiance, Debra (Keith) Diebler, Port Clinton, OH, and Richard Emerling Jr., Defiance, David (Tammy) Kinkade, Defiance, Kellie (Rick) Jones, Paulding, and Tracy Dix, Paulding; a sister, Gloria Hostettler, Defiance; two brothers, Darwin Emerling, Covington, KY, and Ronnie (Diane) Emerling, Defiance; eleven grandchildren; and a great granddaughter.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Cheryl Johnson and Dana Rodriquez; and two brothers, Leonard and Larry.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 AM Tuesday, March 31 at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding. Burial will follow in Paulding Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 – 8 PM Monday, March 30 at Den Herder Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services on Tuesday.
