Reflection of Wayne Trace Raiders boys basketball season stats

The only thing that freezes time as much as some of the player’s faces in the camera, is the stats from this year’s Raiders! The Red and Blue colors may eventually fade from the photographs as these boys become young men and soon they will have their own children nearing their own time of graduation.

BUT that’s in the future. This team is one of the most phenomenal teams ever, not only to have played in Paulding County, to have played at state!

Here are some records that have recently been changed, updated, or broken:

The following career records have been broken in the 2014-2015 season:OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Three Point Field Goals Made:

New Record Holder: Corbin Linder – 246
Old Record – Nathan Overmyer 199 (2001-2004)

Three Point Field Goals Attempted:

New Record Holder: Corbin Linder – 644
Old Record – Nathan Overmyer 502 (2001-2004)

Steals: New Record Holder Corbin Linder – 176
Old Record – Jake Sinn (1999-2002) and Colby Speice (2011-2014) 160

Games Played: Corbin Linder is now tied for the school record for games played by playing in his 98th in the state semifinal. Rob Welch (1989-1993) also had 98.

A special note on head coach Jim Linder:

In his seventh season as the varsity coach at Wayne Trace, Raider head coach Jim Linder entered Thursday’s state-semifinal contest with a career record of 99-66.

For this season the top scorer was Ethan Linder with 484 points. Following close behind is Corbin Linder with 382, David Sinn 199, Luke Miller 193, Cole Shepherd 180, Justin Speice 90, Jake Arend 86, Alec Vest 70, Darius Hale 67, Brady Stabler 10, Seth Saylor 9, and Clint Sinn 6.

It’s important to note that David Sinn had been injured for a good portion of the season. He was disabled and wasn’t able to come back until middle of the tournaments, starting at the Van Wert District Championship game. His points could have been much higher if not for this injury. Thankfully, he was able to come back and finish with his team!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The free throw scorer was Ethan Linder. In the Bible, Jesus could draw all men to him. Ethan had the ability to draw fouls to him. He had 175 foul shot attempts and the next closest was David Sinn at only 63, scored 37. Linder, making 146, also shared the highest free-throw made to attempt ratio at 83% with Cole Shepherd who made 20 of 24. Both did well this year. All players on the Raider nation boys team hit at least 50% of their free-throws with the exception of one.

From looking at these stats, it appears that Wayne Trace could pull another great season in the Fall 2015.
Three pointers contributed greatly to the Wayne Trace wins this year and Harvest Prep knew this and shot down Corbin Linder at the cheap seats, pressuring him the entire game. Overall, Corbin had the top shots from outside with 68 made, earning himself a 33% average. It was not bad at all now that he holds the record and probably for many years to come. The last record stood for 11 years. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERACorbin had the most three point baskets by far, but others still did well. Ethan added 28 (at a 38% rate) and Luke Miller posted 27 (31%), Hale 5, Vest 2, Brady Stabler and Jake Arend each 1.

These could be ignored but there are other stats that can give a fuller picture of the team: The top rebounder for the team is Cole Shepherd at 140 for both offense and defense. A team cannot function unless there are people able to grab the missed shots. Other top rebounders included Ethan Linder 123, David Sinn 108, Corbin Linder 96, Luke Miller 86, Justin Speice 66, Jake Arend 63, Alec Vest 49, Darius Hale 25, Seth Saylor 11, Clint Sinn 10, Brady Stabler 4

Kevin Wannemacher and the statisticians did a fantastic job of keeping all the stats together and sending them to the media to help promote the team!
