A Salute to the Services: Memorial Weekend Observance:
This Memorial Day Weekend, we remember those who have given their lives in the service of our country. The Old Fort is honored to present an opportunity for you to visit with veterans who served from WWII through the present. This is your chance to hear their first hand experiences of serving our country. Reenactors will also be on hand to share military stories from the days of the earliest settlers in this territory until WWI. A memorial flag ceremony will begin the afternoon at 1:00 p.m., with special guest Chaplain (Maj.) Michael N. Frese, recipient of the Purple Heart for his service in Iraq. All donations will be used to support the Honor Flight program.
The Fort will be open to the public: 1:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 24. For more information: www.oldfortwayne.org or call (260) 437-2836. The Old Fort is located at 1201 Spy Run Ave Fort Wayne, IN 46805. Parking is available at Headwaters and Lawton Parks.
