Ted B. Garmyn, 82, of Defiance, died at ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital, Wednesday afternoon, June 17, 2015.
He was born in Convoy, OH on October 1, 1932 to the late Prosper J. Garmyn and Wanda (Keeler) Garmyn.
On February 7, 1953 he was married to Holly (Bissell) Garmyn at St. Mary’s-Antwerp, OH. He is survived by his wife Holly, two sons Gregory (Joan) Garmyn of Hicksville, OH, William (Sue) Garmyn of Defiance. A sister Marilyn Reeb of Defiance and brothers Michael (Suzi) Garmyn of Montpelier, OH and Patrick (Elise) Garmyn of Wilmington, NC.
Grandchildren; Theresa Garmyn of Hicksville, Andrea Garmyn of Lubbock, TX, Erin Garmyn of Toledo, OH Lindsay (Adam) Baker of Defiance and Jonathan Garmyn of Harlan, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Joseph and Jesse, a son Timothy and a daughter Sharon in infancy.
Ted was a lifelong farmer and a plasterer for 60 years. He was a member of St. Michael’s Ridge Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. He formerly served on the board of the Jewell Grain Co. and was a member of the Paulding Eagles. He played baseball on the St. Mike’s team, coached the little league Blue team and was a 4-H advisor. He also loved going to Florida as a snowbird in the winter months, watching the Detroit Tigers and NASCAR racing.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 20 with Father John Stites officiating.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 Friday at the Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home 1753 S. Clinton St. Defiance, and a scripture service will be at 8:00. Vistation will also be Saturday, an hour before services at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
