Richard John LaFountain, Jr., 67 passed away Sunday, August 9, 2015 at OSU James Cancer Center in Columbus.
He was born February 16, 1948 in Paulding, the son of Richard and Ila (Aten) LaFountain. He was a 1966 graduate of Paulding High School. He retired from General Motors after 40 years and was a 4-year U.S. Navy Veteran. He was also a 20-year veteran of the Auglaize Township Fire Department. He was an active member of Divine Mercy Catholic Parish where he was a member of the choir and a lector.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sue (Huss); daughter, Angie (Randy) Brooks, Vandalia; 5 grandchildren, Brandon, Allison, and Cameron Boyd, Rylan and Myranda Brooks; brothers, Joe (Jan), Tom (Rose) of Paulding, Jean (Sherry) of Wauseon, Mark (Elia) of New Mexico; sisters, Laurel Minck of Defiance, and Carole Coffey of Oklahoma.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Rose and Christine; 2 infant sons; and an infant grandson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM Friday, August 14 at Divine Mercy Catholic Parish, Paulding. Burial will be in Live Oak Cemetery, Paulding.
Visitation will be 2 – 8 PM Thursday, August 13 at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding. There will be a Rosary Service at 8 PM Thursday.
