Antwerp Community Development Committee President, Jim Pendergrast and ACDC Board Member Tom Derck lead a project to clear brush and trees at an important corner in Antwerp. The site is at the corner of East River St. (CR 424) and Harrmann Road where the Napoleon, Defiance and Western Railway crosses Harrmann Road.
Over the years, vegetation had grown tall and thick and impaired the vision of drivers at the railroad and corner. This resulted in an unsafe condition. This corner is used every day of school by school buses, families, students and employees driving to the Antwerp Local Schools. The ACDC was the lead organizer of the safety clean up operation with volunteers. The railroad had personnel there to help as well and the Antwerp Village cooperated. Jim Pendergrast donated his time and his excavator to do the heavy part of the work.
The ACDC goal is to take on activities to continually improve the town of Antwerp to make it a more pleasant, productive and safe place to live.
