ANTWERP, OH
Richard “Dick” E. Schroeder Sr., 81, passed away on Thursday, September 3, in Franklin, North Carolina. He was born in Defiance, Ohio, but was a resident of Antwerp, Ohio. Dick was known by many for his kindness, generosity and willingness to help wherever there was a need. He loved to laugh and he loved hugs. He loved his family very much. He lived a rich and full life which was largely due to his lifelong, wholehearted service to the person he loved the most, Jehovah God. Accompanied by his dear wife Esther, he used his skills and resources in the construction trades and transportation industry to support the Bible education work of Jehovah’s Witnesses whenever possible.
For the last several years of his life, as a member of the Antwerp Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, he was busy as a full time minister sharing Bible truths with everyone he met.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Esther of Antwerp, Ohio; daughter, Jacqueline Schroeder of Greenville, North Carolina; sons, Charles (Michelle) Schroeder of Auburn, Indiana and Samuel (Jane) Schroeder of Flowery Branch, Georgia eight grandchildren, Serena, Mark, Richard, Alisha, Kaylee, Samuel, Bethany and Christopher; and five great-grandchildren; brothers, Frederick Schroeder of Dade City, Florida and Robert (Marcia) Schroeder of Dothan, Alabama; sisters, Barbara Hagy of Fort Wayne and Dorothy Baker of Port Clinton, Ohio, and many well-loved nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Eva (Wagner) Schroeder; his son, Richard E. Schroeder, Jr.; and his sister, Elizabeth Spyker.
Memorial Service is to be held Saturday, September 12 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Antwerp, Ohio. Memorial talk given by Norm Gardner.
