The Antwerp boys Cross Country traveled to Ottawa-Glandorf headed by coach Cord Ehrhart for the
District competition on Saturday, October 24. The Archer team with Sam Williamson, Erik Buchan, Brian Geyer, Evan Hilton, Matt Dooley, Drake Gerken, and Chase Gerken landed the 4th place slot to ensure their position at the Regional competition next weekend in Tiffin.
Individually, the top runner was once again Sam Williamson at 15:38. This was not a course record, but it was 15 seconds ahead of Brendon Siefker, second place runner from Ottoville. Erik Buchan from Antwerp nailed the third place spot at 16:45. Paulding’s first runner Simeon Shepherd came in at 18:22.
Out of 33 teams only 8 moved on and Antwerp placed 4th with 125 points. The top team was Minster who earned 83 points, followed by Lincolnview with 90, and Ayersville with 93. Paulding also performed well, earning the fifth place spot with 145 points.
For the girls, Antwerp, Wayne Trace and Paulding all had ladies compete. Hollie Wannemacher from WT placed 8th with 21:06 while Annie Miesle from Antwerp with 21:39 placed 15. Both will move to Regionals.
