Get ready to be transported to a Mystical Magic Toyland at this year’s Festival of Trees at the John Paulding Historical Museum in Paulding. The transformation is complete and the trees are all getting their trimmings for the celebration of the onset of the holiday season. This festive occasion is set to take place November 13-15 and 20-22. That’s right! You spoke and JPHS listened! Now there are two weekends to enjoy the gala of traditions of good tidings. The first weekend will be filled with food, entertainment, raffles and silent auctions; while the second weekend will spotlight only the trees and silent auction. The Memory tree will also on display both weekends. Fridays from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. are the running times for this year’s Festival of Trees.
Friday, November 13th, will begin with a potato bar and Drew Munger at 4:00 p.m., and this will be followed by Brian Holbrook and the Poor Bottom Grass Boys at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, the 14th is Kids Day! This all begins at 9:00 a.m. with Santa visiting, Woody the Talking Tree, Let’s Make Snow with Mike, a Cookie Walk by the Junior Historians, and Meet and Greet Chewbacca. Breakfast will also be served beginning at 9:00 a.m. with items such as breakfast casseroles, sausage and biscuits, and fruit on the menu. At 12:00 Noon, lunch will include chili, hot dogs and cake. Sunday the 15th will begin with a pancake and sausage breakfast from 11:00 a.m. through 1:00 p.m. followed by some titillating tunes from the Oakwood Community Band.
As we all are underway preparing and organizing for Thanksgiving, help your spirit get focused on the spirit of the entire season by visiting the John Paulding Historical Society museum for the Mystical Magic Toyland Festival of Trees. It will be a transcendent time of yuletide gaiety just in time for the season.
