Santa Claus is coming to town!
Hey Antwerp! We all know that Friday will be “Black Friday” and Monday is “Cyber Monday”
but did you know that Saturday is national “Small Business Saturday?“ We are encouraging everyone to visit a small business to do some holiday shopping in Antwerp this Saturday. Our local Chamber of Commerce is working with local business owners to make it a great day in our community.
First, Santa Claus is coming to town in a small parade at 10:00 a.m. You are invited to come out with your friends and drive your golf cart or bicycle or walk behind the fire truck as Santa heads to the fire hall to listen to everyone’s Christmas wishes. Of course, he will be coming from the north so we will lineup on Archer Drive and go to the fire hall. The Fireman’s Auxiliary will have hot chocolate and cookies. Santa will let you get your picture taken and have a treat for you.
Once again this year the Antwerp Chamber of Commerce has 200 “SHOP SMALL” canvas tote bags and our local business are filling them with gifts, coupons, “freebies” and entry forms for drawings throughout the community. 10 lucky people will find $10.00 chamber gift certificates in their bags that can be used throughout our community. This year the bags will be given out to our merchants earlier in the week and they will be able to give them to their customers before or on the 28th!
As you are thinking about your Christmas gift giving list how about some local things that could be really appreciated by your family and friends. Here’ s a few ideas that you may not have thought about. How about a manicure or massage or haircut certificate? Gift cards for restaurants and gas purchases are always appreciated. Pick out a holiday centerpiece or hardware items. You can’t go wrong with meat and cheese trays or grocery certificates. There are a lot more ideas you can think of that would fill your shopping needs and help our local businesses. Remember, for every $1.00 spent here $.68 is reinvested in our community.
Saturday evening the new Christmas decorations will be turned on. A lot of time and money has been put in to them so we hope you all enjoy them. They were purchased by the Antwerp Chamber of Commerce, the Village of Antwerp, the Antwerp VFW post and the ACDC organization. So come out Saturday and support the small businesses. Be a part of kicking off the holiday season right here in Antwerp – our hometown!
