Paulding Panthers took on Ada in boys basketball on Friday, December 11. Paulding has pulled off incredible wins against its adversaries this year—Antwerp and Wayne Trace in the county. The game began with Paulding’s record being 3-1 and similiar to other games with these boys—trailing the opposition, only scoring 5 points in the first period and those by Alex Arellano.
The second quarter was literally a rebound for the Panthers when they posted 15 points and split across Corbin Edwards, Ethan Rhonehouse, and a 3 pointer by Jarrett Sitton. The half ended with the Bulldogs one point in the lead 21-20.
While all the excitement was going on and the lack of points in the second period, the Bulldogs got back on their game for the third when Paulding also made a good showing—on the inside and outside of the key. This period left Ada stretching their lead by slightly more than the halftime, 36-33.
Fouls were kept to a minimal for the home team—whom coach Shawn Brewer is quite proud. I don’t know how Paulding has done this so many times, and they certainly cannot rely on this, but once again coming from behind and outscoring their opponents. This time they did not go into overtime, not with outscoring their rivals by 10.
The final score was 42-49 and Paulding is now showing a record of 4-1.
Score by the Quarter:
Paulding – 5 15 13 16=49
Ada – 13 8 15 6=42
Scorers of the Game:
