On a cold, windy and rainy evening right after Christmas on Monday, December 28, the boys basketball tournament at Hicksville began for the Route 49 teams. Those included in the tournament were Antwerp, Hicksville, Edgerton, and Edon. In the girls tournament, Hicksville came out on top when they defeated Antwerp in the championship game.
Edgerton took on Antwerp in the first game with coach Ripke at the helm. The Antwerp boys took an early lead from the Bulldogs when Sam Williamson and Brandon Pendergrast scored 9 points between them while Matt Jones, Josh Poulson and Josh Longardner all added a basket of their own, adding up to 20 points to Edgerton’s 6 (Perry, Thiel and Michael—each 2).
